About This Site

Navigation

External links will open up a second browser window to retain easy access to the Resource Guide navigation. You can easily switch between the two windows by pressing ALT + TAB [Windows only].

Setting

We have created a website for the Environmental Studies Department of a high school. This website will supplement the existing program and will be used by the teachers to engage the students in issues of environmental education.

Motivation

We created this website to engage the students with interesting links, activities, projects, and topics for discussion. We hope this site will increase the awareness of environmental concerns.

Statement of Purpose

This website is a reference tool for students studying environmental science. The site includes links focusing on four key issues to be covered in class. Students may use these web resources for research and statistics. Students will also find links to activities, articles, and organizations with environmental concerns. These web resources can encourage the students to explore more on their own.

Scope and limits of websites

The website only focuses on four topics, albeit important topics, in the vast scope of environmental studies. However, the addition of more topics to the website can be a future assignment for the students.

Responsibility and Maintenance

This site will be maintained by the environmental studies teacher with technical assistance from the school media librarian. The website should be reviewed prior to the beginning of every semester to ensure all links are still active and still supportive of the curriculum.

Impact on your Services

This website will enable teachers to present Environmental Studies through an interactive medium. The website will provide an opportunity for learning environmental concerns and computer literacy. It will provide a varied curriculum to keep the students engaged.

Possible Benefits to Users

The students will have an increased awareness of environmental issues, information literacy and technological skills.
